A Story of Power, Possibility, and Progress
The Caribbean is a region rich in beauty, culture, and spirit. But behind the postcard-perfect scenes lies a daily struggle that most visitors never see.
Across its 700+ islands, the Caribbean depends on imported fossil fuels for over 85% of its energy. That dependence isn’t just costly—it’s unstable. Global fuel price shocks hit small island economies hard. Electricity costs in the region are among the highest in the world, with families and businesses paying two to three times more than their counterparts in Europe or North America.
Meanwhile, the region sits on the frontline of climate change. Rising seas, stronger hurricanes, and extreme heat threaten lives, homes, and livelihoods. In 2017 alone, Hurricanes Irma and Maria caused over $95 billion in damage. These disasters also knock out power, cripple ports, and isolate communities—showing just how vulnerable the region’s infrastructure truly is.
But the Caribbean is not without power. In fact, it has abundant natural energy—sunlight that could power entire cities, geothermal reserves bubbling beneath the surface, strong coastal winds, and organic waste that could be converted to fuel.
The challenge? Capital. The region’s small economies and high debt levels limit their ability to invest in large-scale infrastructure and clean energy transitions.

That’s where this initiative changes the game.
A fully funded, region-wide clean energy and infrastructure programme—focused on airports, seaports, utilities, and residential zones—would unlock a sustainable future. Built on a hybrid Energy-as-a-Service model, this transformation comes at zero cost to governments or local businesses.
Imagine this:
It’s already working elsewhere. But the Caribbean can be the region that gets it right first—not last.
This initiative isn’t about charity. It’s about partnership. It’s about turning the Caribbean’s natural wealth into energy security, economic growth, and climate leadership.
And it’s already possible. The question now is—who will help make it happen?

Caribbean Together.
